Jacob Dueck
Chair
Jacob graduated from the University of Toronto with a bachelor of applied science in mechanical engineering in 2008. Since graduating Jacob has worked in several positions at Husky Technologies in Bolton, Ontario. He currently works as a product manager for asset management in PET business development. Jacob gained his P.Eng. designation in 2017 and joined the Kingsway Chapter Board in 2018. First starting as the license presentation coordinator, he became the Chapter Chair in 2022.

Mohamed (Gazia) AbuGazia P.Eng
Vice Chair
Mohamed (Gazia) AbuGazia obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Structural and Wind Engineering from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Western University in 2022. He currently works as a high-rise structural EIT in Toronto. Additionally, he obtained his other PhD from State Key Laboratory for Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering at Tongji University, shanghai, China. His published research includes topics related to the structural and wind engineering fields; specifically, the behavior of prestressed concrete structures, and the effect of tornado wind loads on wind turbines. He obtained his M.Sc. and B.Sc. from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt in 2016 and 2012, respectively.

Vassili Mordatch
Chapter Treasurer
Vassili received P. Eng. license in 2002. He got Ph.D. evaluation from the University of Toronto for former USSR scientist diploma and published technical books, articles, patents. He participates actively in Kingsway Chapter executive since 2003. Organized events, some of them were visits to Exhibition Place, MTO Traffic Operations Centre, Wind Turbine. His current and past employers in Canada and USA are Metrolinx Agency, ERG Transit Systems, GE, Microsoft, TransitFare. He was Treasurer of Kingsway Chapter from 2012 to 2018 and strive to improve finance, budget and reporting discipline.

Gil Galang
Past Chair
Gil Galang is the founder of Galang Consulting Services. He graduated from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical degree. His field of expertise includes project management, engineering design of commercial, industrial, institutional, educational and manufacturing facilities that includes pharmaceuticals, food plants, car parts, just to name a few. Gil has also extensive involvement in the design, implementation, and commissioning of a 9.5 MW Cogen Plant in Toronto. Gil joined the PEO Kingsway Chapter last year in the capacity of assistant treasurer. Gil is also a Committee Member of the OSPE Political Action Network for the last 6 years.

Mohammad Eghtesadi
Events Committee Vice-Chair
Mohammad graduated from Sharif University of Technology with a Master of Applied Science in 2010 and received his P.Eng. designation from PEO in 2016. Mohammad worked on a variety of geotechnical and infrastructure projects. He is currently a Geotechnical Engineer with Thurber Engineering. He has been a member of the Kingsway Chapter since 2016.

Florence Liu
Events Chair
Florence Liu graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) with a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering. She is also a certified project management professional (PMP) and is currently working in the commercial contract furniture manufacturing industry as an Operations Improvement Manager. Her work is mainly project based and relate to manufacturing automation, process and system design, production visual management systems, and elimination of process constraints.

Kirusha Srimohanarajah, P.Eng.
Education Committee Chair
I am very excited to serve as your Education Committee Chair this year. By day I am the manager of Electrical and Firmware Engineering at Thornhill Medical a company that designs and manufactures mobile medical equipment for critical care. I have a passion for engineering education and outreach. As an alumna of the University of Waterloo Electrical Engineering Program – I have stayed close to my alma mater – giving guest lectures and volunteering at many events. I am also the founder of a grant for the Advancement of Women’s Health at the University of Waterloo. As a lifelong learner, I am also doing my MBA at John’s Hopkins with a specialization in Healthcare Management, Innovation and Technology. I look forward to hearing from you and leading in initiatives put on the chapter to continue to make progress towards our goals.

Michael Di Matteo, P.Eng.
Licence Presentation Chapter Coordinator
Michael Di Matteo is a Project Manager at Modern Niagara with just under 5 years experience in the field of commercial mechanical construction. His fields of expertise include health care, government facilities, office fit-outs, labs and base-building upgrades. He graduated from York University with a Bachelor’s of Engineering with Honours in Mechanical Engineering. In Michael’s free time he enjoys 3D printing and playing his electric guitar.

Maria Espinosa P.Eng
Communications Chair
Maria is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), and holds a Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.) degree, focusing on collision prediction at signalized intersections in the presence of Autonomous Vehicles. She has over five years of experience in the field of Traffic Engineering, particularly in Road Safety and Traffic Operations. She has worked in the private sector, having been a part of large transit and safety-related projects, and is currently working as a Senior Traffic Analyst in the public sector. With some of her spare time, Maria plans to dedicate efforts to PEO Kingsway to help encourage more activity within the Chapter.

Steve Favell P.Eng
Government Liaison Program (GLP) Chair
Chapter Past Chair Steve has a BASc Eng degree from the University of Waterloo. His work and expertise includes analog electronics design, and wireless telecommunication systems. For 26 years on the Kingsway chapter board (with 4 as Chair), Steve has exhibited a passion for the engineering profession and influencing others to contribute as leaders and volunteers. Steve also played a key role explaining the role of professional engineers in the climate change debate, including organizing a major workshop on Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth”, as well as a “Climate Change at a Crossroads” event attended by over 200 people each. Steve doubled board membership and member involvement by recruiting new members at licensing ceremonies and chapter AGMs.

Caden Pereira P.Eng
Licence Presentation Event Coordinator
Caden has a Mechanical Engineering degree from Ryerson University. Since 2016, Caden has worked within the industrial automation industry as an installer, designer and project coordinator and applies his skillset to suit the needs of each unique project. Having worked years on both production and integrator sides of the automotive manufacturing industry. Caden works hard to use his knowledge with operating practices and engineering controls technologies to provide innovative, cost-effective solutions for various plant floor environments. He currently works as a Safety Engineer providing Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews for various industrial occupancies in Ontario. Caden has joined the Kingsway Chapter after his License Presentation Ceremony in 2022, to help with making the event memorable for future licensees.
